2012?
The belief that 2012 will somehow herald an apocalypse is gaining quite a following. Although it seems on the surface that this is the product of ramblings from the same people that believed the same thing would happen at the turn of the millennium, it appears to have developed from calculations made by the ancient Mayans in Central and South America. These people were as knowledgable in Astronomy as the Greeks were at mathematics...... however, it's not my intention here to give an in depth description of this. Only to say.... Apocalypse does not mean "End of the World". It is actually defined as an "uncovering".
The Mayans knew a lot about nature, astronomy and geography as a whole... and left us clues as to the and of this system/natural cycle..... WERE THEY.... the system administrators of the Life Game? Did they hold the map of this reality and were they the time keepers, letting us know how much time was left in the game? Unfortunately the Conquistadors may have destroyed any other important clues.
This begs another question which I also won't go into here, but could the current supposed greed by a few rich people in the world, know about the imminent end of the game and are making as much money as possible - as maybe that IS the aim of the game after all and that religious teachings of piety and "meek inheriting the Earth" stuff was actually misinformation for the other more gullable "Teams/Players".
I may write more in this post at a later date when I think of more stuff, but please feel free to comment.

Password invalid - Access Denied
After watching the Darren Aronowski film "Pi" the other day, it got me thinking. Although not exactly along the same lines of what Darren was trying to say, it got me wondering about the Jewish practise of Kaballa. Now, I really don't know anything about it, but I know that it's something to do with the Name of God. The Christian/Jewish God is called Jaweh or Jehova, depending on which book you read. This name has over the millennia has been shortened to just a bunch of consonants "YHWH" (also called the Tetragammation - which means 4 letter word). This abbreviation appears in the Old and New Testements way more times than the full name. Why was this name abbreviated? From what I gathered from my rather narrow catholic religious education is that in the times that these books were written (or referred to) only the Chief Rabbai was allowed to go into the holy of holies (a sacred place behind a screen) in the Temple in Jersusalem and whisper the holy name in full (On the Jewish festival of Yom Kippur)- so it was probably supposed to be a more reverant way of writing it. It was also said that if anybody but this high priest uttered the name, they would die due to it's ultimate power. Strange huh? After all, what's a word? Maybe a secret was being witheld? - Purely wild speculation I know and I don't claim to know anything about this area of theology, however - back to the film Pi.
The Mathematical number Pi or 3.14159.............. is a mysterious anomaly. It appears in ancient archaeology, and is the exact relationship between the diameter and area of a perfect circle (a shape with no start and no end!). Mathematicians have been as religious in trying to find the exact value of Pi as Kaballah Jews have been in trying to find the name of God, which has been supposedly lost over the aeons.... This poses a few questions:
1. Could this number and the name of God be one and the same thing?
2. Did the ancient Jewish High priests actually whisper a "number" in the Holy of Holies?
3. Was this knowledge of the "name/number" the reason why the Jews were the so called chosen people of God?
4. Did the loss of this name/number signify the fall of the Temple and the possible rejection of the Jews by God.... (I think, supposedly when the Romans Invaded)?
5. What was so powerfull about this name/number and why did the High Priest have to utter it regularly?
Just a thought, but could this number be a password or username to somehow access Life's "Behind the Scenes". A back end program in which life's "settings" be accessed.
Disclaimer: I don't religiously believe any of the above, but just putting ideas out there. I apologise to anyone who may be offended by this post. It's not my intention to be offensive or to insite religious hatred/antisemitism. I also really don't know much about the above subjects so if anyone out there would like to educate me, please feel free to comment.

Quite an apt title I thought for my first post, as this is usually the simplest program in the first chapter of many a beginners' computer programming manual. It's funny also that the initial step on the road to being a programmer should warrant the computer to be able to communicate with the world outside. Surely one would think that the beginning of a course of this type would require firstly, the developer to communicate with the computer - not vice versa. Anyway, I'm not a programmer myself but have tried to be, hence the knowledge of the very first chapter of quite a few books on the subject. I also know quite a bit about Aardvaarks!!
I'm not a religious person. I was brought up a roman catholic but over the years I've developed a healthy level of skepticism and my university training has helped develop an enquiring and - most of the time - logical outlook on things. However, nobody's perfect and should you believe that my thoughts are those of a raving lunatic, then leave a message and tell me!
OK you think, if you're not a raving lunatic, then why are you even considering the possibility of life existing in a vitual simulation? Firstly, it's not a belief .... it's a hypothesis..... a theory to be discussed. There are too many sites on the internet written by people who believe something and then try to convince the world (and themselves) that it is true. This blog is different in the fact that - I'm trying to prove the hypothesis INCORRECT. However - it may be just as improbable (not impossible) to do this as it is to prove the existence of God/Intelligent Designer. Secondly, I've seen the Matrix Trilogy and just thought that the existential ideas brought up by the Brothers Wachowski should be discussed further.
So please feel free to comment on any of my posts or indeed share your own ideas on the subject. I'll be posting as and when I think of something else, or a movie/book/story/news article inspires me to do so and will endeavour to reply to your comments.
